Dr. Finlay Maguire, assistant professor in the Departments of Computer Science and Community Health & Epidemiology at Dalhousie and Pathogenomics Lead at Toronto’s Shared Hospital Laboratory, has been elected to the Royal Society of Canada’s College of New Scholars, Artists and Scientists. This prestigious honour recognizes mid-career leaders whose work is shaping the future of science and society. A leading expert in genomic epidemiology and data science, Dr. Maguire has played a pivotal role in national and international responses to public health emergencies, including SARS-CoV-2, avian influenza, and antimicrobial resistance, translating genomic insights into clinical decision-making and global public health practice.
Dr. Maguire will be formally inducted at a ceremony on Nov. 14, 2025, in Montréal, Québec.
